Reed Exhibitions, one of the world’s largest global events organizer and a division of Reed Elsevier plc, has purchased Capsule, a global fashion and lifestyle trade show for men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. Previously, the Capsule franchise had been controlled individually by fashion agency BPMW.
According to WWD the deal was confirmed end December, however details of the agreement have not been revealed. Capsule now joins the Reed Exhibitions increasing portfolio of fashion and lifestyle events, which include San Diego based event Comic Con and skate/street wear trade fair Agenda.
Capsule was first founded in 2007 and now hosts twelve trade shows each year in Paris, Berlin, New York and Las Vegas. The trade show is primarily known for its unique assortment of exclusive and independent designers. Leaders at Reed Exhibitions and Capsule have agreed to work together to further develop future trade shows and improve the shows experience for visitors, sellers and buyers a like.
Deirdre Maloney, co-founder of Capsule said: “We’ve watched the community of Capsule brands shape the fashion landscape and we’re proud to offer a boutique experience that provides the opportunity for industry relationships to flourish.
“But as the market has grown so have we, and the time is right for us to join forces with a world-class company like Reed that can help us do what we’ve always done — better. We are so impressed with Reed’s global perspective and rich experience, and we’re looking forward to working together on what is and will remain a very personal project for us,” concluded Maloney.
Greg Topalian, senior vice president at Reed Exhibition believes that the newest acquisition is “great cultural fit with our growing fashion portfolio, and a great addition to what we’re doing with the Agenda events.”
