Agreement has been reached for Findlay Media Limited (FML), a part of the Mark Allen Group (MAG), to acquire 100% of The Airports Publishing Network Limited (APN). Subject to successful due diligence, the deal is due to complete in September 2015.
APN was established in 1985 and has since become the market leading information provider to the international ground handling sector. It publishes two international B2B magazines, numerous websites and organises four highly successful international conferences each year. APN’s primary title, Ground Handling International, is a recognised brand in more than 200 countries.
MAG is a progressive independent publishing and events business with 250-employees across three sites and diverse interests in Manufacturing, Engineering, Healthcare, Education, Business and Leisure.
Mark Allen, chairman of MAG: “The fit of APN in the MAG portfolio is perfect. APN is a very solid, innovative, profitable business and its senior management has built up a very good reputation within the aviation sector.
“MAG is well known for its expertise in magazine subscription management, FML is renowned for its B2B circulation and data excellence and both have fast growing revenues in exhibitions, events and online. APN brings its expertise in overseas publishing and international conferences to the group. The global focus of APN is of considerable interest to the future development of the group.
“APN has established an excellent reputation in a growing niche market and its international business fits perfectly with MAG’s growth strategy.”
Terms for the sale were reached quickly and easily based on trust and confidence quickly established between Tim Ornellas and Peter Knutton, managing director at Findlay Media.
Peter Knutton: “This is a really exciting prospect for FML and MAG. I look forward to working closely with Tim and Jean to ensure the transition for their staff is as smooth as possible and look forward to creating exciting new opportunities that will enhance both businesses.
“FML has an established track record for delivering successful, large scale events and extending our reach overseas was always part of the plan. APN will help us achieve that ambition.”
Tim Ornellas echoed these views:”This is a fantastic opportunity for two long-established, privately-owned media teams. The prospects for the employees are very exciting. I am totally committed to helping FML develop and grow over the next few years. It is going to be a huge and enjoyable challenge.
“I am also delighted by the perfect sense and timing of this deal. APN needs room to continue growing and what better place than MAG, a company passionate about magazine publishing, new media and events. MAG provides that opportunity and APN will add excellent value to its new owner.”
