Is WPP interested in this sports marketing and talent agency? The Evening Standard seems to think so.
Those who know WPP reckon a bid isn’t on the cards and chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell has already said he does not plan any big acquisition despite WPP’s losing its crown as the world’s biggest advertising group as a consequence of the Publicis/Omnicom merger. However, the idea WPP might be interested in some sort of stake isn’t entirely fanciful. Sorrell began his career at IMG, and sports marketing is a boom area. Private equity is said to be interested in IMG. Some say talent agency William Morris Endeavor also has more than an eye on its rival.
