Specialist digital publishing group Green Star Media is launching a subscription-based basketball magazine to capitalise on the growth of the world’s second biggest team sport, aimed primarily at the US market.
The Guildford company, which already exports soccer and rugby advice to more than 80 countries using the internet, expects most subscribers to Basketball Coach Weekly to come from the United States, the home of the sport.
Kevin Barrow, publishing director, said: “Some people might ask how a company in a medium sized English town can launch a weekly basketball coaching magazine into the US. The answer is simple. Firstly, the all-important editorial is sourced from the US.
“Secondly, our specialism is creating, marketing, selling and distributing coaching information, not just in the US but around the world.”
Basketball Coach Weekly is edited by Michael Austin, a highly experienced and respected coaching writer at grassroots and elite in the United States. Green Star Media is targeting 15,000 paying subscribers within three years and expects to sell the product in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Austin said: “Green Star has nailed the way a top quality coaching publication should be produced and they know how to market and distribute it. My editing and their experience is a great collaboration. I know we’ll produce the best basketball coaching magazine on the planet.”
