Television and film company aims to expand hit cartoon characterinto new markets by taking control. Peppa Pig co-owner tertainment One is to take control of UK producer Astley Baker Davies, the creator of the hit cartoon character, in a deal worth £140m.
Entertainment One will take a 70% stake in Astley Baker Davies, which co-owns the rights to Peppa Pig, and increase its control of the rights to the franchise to 85%. Entertainment One, which distributes shows including The Walking Dead and films such as the Twilight and Hunger Games series, has built Peppa Pig into a $1bn global TV and merchandise franchise.
