Press Release: SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – January 26, 2017 – Emerald Expositions, LLC (“Emerald”), a leading U.S. business-to-business trade show and conference producer, today announced its acquisition of the CEDIA trade show from the Custom Electronics Design & Installation Association (“the Association”).
The CEDIA trade show is the premier event in the home technology market, serving industry professionals that manufacture, design and integrate goods and services for the connected home. The event features five days of networking, brand exposure and product launches, and is the annual connecting point for manufacturers, home technology professionals, media, industry partners and more within the “smart home” industry. CEDIA 2015 ranked #94 in Trade Show News Network’s latest list of Top 250 US Trade Shows, which is based on net square feet.
CEDIA 2017 will take place September 5 – 9, 2017 at the San Diego Convention Center, with the trade show floor open September 7 – 9, and is expected to draw more than 18,000 wholesale attendees and over 500 brands. The event features industry-leading educational content, including 115 CEDIA training sessions, 13 CEDIA Talks, six free CEDIA Panel Sessions and several events that provide attendees an opportunity to network and to gain insights, ideas and strategies to improve their businesses. Under the terms of the acquisition, the Association will continue to endorse the CEDIA trade show and will retain control and ownership of all educational programming going forward.
“CEDIA first and foremost serves its members, and as home technology continues to proliferate, our members need comprehensive tools, resources, and support to assert their position as the single point of contact for technology in the home,” said Vin Bruno, CEDIA CEO. “Emerald acquiring and consequently taking over the operational responsibilities of the show will allow CEDIA to reallocate staff resources to programs and initiatives that will drive member success across the board.”
“We have a long and successful track record of collaborating with the leading associations in the industry sectors we serve to produce “must-attend” trade shows and conferences,” said David Loechner, President and CEO of Emerald Expositions. “I am confident that the combination of Emerald’s deep experience, professional capabilities and unrivalled scale in operating trade shows, together with CEDIA’s clear vision, market affinity and pre-eminent educational content will propel the show forward for the benefit of the entire industry.”
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
