SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA, March 3, 2015 – Emerald Expositions, LLC (“Emerald”) announced today that it has acquired two leading tradeshow and conference businesses in separate transactions with Vendome Group, LLC and Macfadden Communications Group, LLC.
David Loechner, Chief Executive Officer of Emerald, said, “We have said consistently that we planned to supplement our organic growth with tuck-in acquisitions that met our strategic criteria. I am delighted we were able to add these two growing businesses, each with leading brands in their respective markets, to the Emerald portfolio.”
Healthcare Design Conference and Expo, Healthcare Design Magazine, Environments For Aging, and Construction SuperConference operated under the Vendome Healthcare Media division of Vendome Group. Healthcare Design Conference and Expo is the industry’s best attended and most respected tradeshow/conference primarily focused on evidence-based design for healthcare facilities. In addition to the annual tradeshow and conference, the brand has a complementary and leading magazine, Healthcare Design Magazine, education and sponsored events, and an online presence that together engage the industry all year round. The business benefits from close relationships with The Center for Health Design® and the American Institute of Architects, in addition to several other association partners. Environments For Aging (EFA) is a complementary niche within the broader healthcare vertical, focused on creating functional and attractive living environments that meet the needs of the aging population. The brand includes a tradeshow/conference, magazine, and education and sponsored events. Construction SuperConference is a leading event for lawyers providing advice in commercial construction markets.
These three brands are based in Cleveland, OH and the team is led by Ron Lowy. Ron will report to Joe Randall, EVP Design, Healthcare, Antiques & Military.
Joe said “At Emerald we have tremendous tradeshow assets in our Design Group, including HD Expo, GlobalShop, ICFF and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. We also have leading complementary magazines that support these shows, such as Hospitality Design, Contract, Kitchen and Bath Business, and design:retail, as well as associated online and event activities. Healthcare Design, EFA, and CSC are natural additions to Emerald’s Design portfolio.”
International Pizza Expo operated under Macfadden Communications Group is the largest tradeshow for pizza professionals in the world, and Pizza Today is the partner magazine and leading publication in this market. Operating in the $40 billion pizza restaurant industry, International Pizza Expo is the fastest growing foodservice show by several metrics, including net square footage, and ranks in the top 200 largest tradeshows in the U.S.
The pizza team is based in Louisville, KY and is led by Peter Lachapelle, who will report to Joe Randall, EVP Design, Healthcare, Antiques & Military.
Joe said “This is Emerald’s first tradeshow acquisition in the foodservice industry and we are exceptionally pleased that the International Pizza Expo is such a strong, vibrant and growing show. We look forward to supporting the team in the continued entrepreneurial building of the business.”
The financial terms of the two transactions were not disclosed.
