Controversial software that blocks web adverts on Apple’s iPhone and iPad still topped the list of most popular paid apps during the weekend, after the leading contender was scrapped by its creator. Friday’s decision by developer Marco Arment to pull his Peace app came after his self-described moral qualms over the success of his software, which enables users to strip adverts out of web pages on their iPhones — something that could harm publishers who rely on advertising.
