TSL Education Chief Executive Bernard Gray said:
“The Times Educational Supplement is teachers’ first source of news about education, teaching and life in the classroom as well as advice and information about their careers. We’ve worked closely with teachers across the country to design a paper that is relevant to their professional needs and entertaining and challenging as well as informative. We believe that’s what the new TES delivers in an exciting new format.”
TES Editor Judith Judd said: “We’re thrilled with the new paper and we believe teachers will be too. The TES is the paper of record for the education sector but it’s also the best source for teachers at every level for advice about their profession and their careers. The new TES will continue to meet the needs of today’s readers and reach out to the new generations of teachers finding their way in their careers.”
Teachers’ leaders also expressed their enthusiasm for the new paper:
ASCL General Secretary John Dunford said: “There has been a significant level of investment in the TES and it shows in the quality of the relaunched publication. The TES has been a staple of the education sector for decades and it is good to see that set to continue in the years to come.”
ATL general secretary, Dr Mary Bousted, said: “I always read the TES on a Friday. Sometimes it infuriates me, sometimes I’m in disbelief, sometimes I’m amused – but I’m always interested. ATL wishes the TES all the best with their re-launch.”
NAHT General Secretary, Mick Brookes said: “The changed format of the TES is a bright new start. The new look magazine will be very popular as it has adopted a modern approach and promises to be a good read!”
NUT General Secretary, Steve Sinnott, said:“The TES has long been essential reading for teachers and all educationists and its exciting new format will help maintain that position. I wish it the very best of fortunes for the future.”
