Media Mergers are pleased to announce the acquisition of Data Centre World by CloserStill Media on 20 June 2013. The deal was brokered by Martin Wright of Media Mergers on behalf of the owners of Turret Group. CloserStill, the fast-growing B2B events and media company today announced its acquisition of the Data Centre World event for an undisclosed sum. Also included in the deal were related internet and data assets and Data Centre Management magazine. Data Centre World, launched in 2008 by Turret Group serves the U.K. data centre market – the largest in Western Europe — currently investing in its facilities at a rate of around $3 billion a year — has enjoyed six consecutive years of revenue and attendance growth. This year`s event – taking place at ExCeL for the first time in February – attracted over 160 exhibitors and a record attendance of 3,435. Following the acquisition, CloserStill immediately announced the launch of Data Centre World Asia this November, running alongside their existing Cloud Asia event (13-14 November 2013, Suntech Exhibition Centre, Singapore). According to Andy Center, Chief Executive of CloserStill, Data Centre World is extremely well positioned for further substantial long-term growth: “ It`s hardly a secret that the data centre market is in commercial over-drive, powered by the geometric growth in demand due to a whole series of irreversible factors including more powerful computers, more connections to the internet, an explosion of data, new cloud computing models, the mobile revolution and even regulatory issues requiring massive uplift in storage capacity. “Most importantly, this is not a boom or a bubble, it’s a strategic shift. DCW is here for the long run.” DCW joins CloserStill’s technology division which already includes Learning Technologies (www.learningtechnologies.co.uk), the largest e-learning event in the world, the multi-award winning Cloud Expo Europe event in London (www.cloudexpoeurope.com) and its sister event in Singapore (www.cloudexpoasia.com). Ian Garmeson, MD of Turret Group commented: “ We have taken Data Centre World from its humble beginnings in the Barbican and built it into Europe’s largest dedicated Data Centre event.
