Skyscanner, the world’s fastest growing international travel search company, has completed an investment from US based venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. The deal values the company at $800 million and is believed to be one of Sequoia’s largest ever investments. Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) remains Skyscanner’s largest shareholder. Sir Michael Moritz, Chairman of Sequoia, is to join the Skyscanner board of directors, which also includes SEP’s Managing Partner, Calum Paterson.
Skyscanner has grown more than 100% year-on-year for the past four years, with the number of unique monthly users to its website now above 25 million. Employee numbers are on track to reach 500 in the course of the next year across its operations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Singapore, Beijing and Miami.
